Killington Resort, known as The Beast of the East, is entering the 2024–25 winter season with significant changes — a new era of independence, expanded snowmaking, and major event programming that puts the mountain back on the global stage.
A New Era of Independence
For the first time in its history, the resort is operating independently after separating from POWDR Corp. This transition enables the facility to concentrate on visitor needs while expanding its service offerings and implementing innovations designed specifically for the Killington community.
Opening Dates and Early Skiing
The season launched November 14, 2024, with exclusive access for Killington, Beast 365, and Ikon passholders. Public skiing began November 15. Early-season terrain emphasized advanced runs supported by the resort's advanced snowmaking infrastructure, ensuring reliable coverage during unpredictable early-winter weather.
Stifel Killington Cup
The highlight event returned during Thanksgiving weekend — an FIS Ski World Cup competition on the Superstar trail. The celebration included elite competitive racing, live entertainment, and family-friendly programming that drew tens of thousands of spectators to the mountain.
Expanded Snowmaking & Sustainability
The facility invested in energy-efficient snow guns that decrease environmental impact while enabling earlier trail openings. The resort maintains a commitment to sustainability through recycling initiatives and waste reduction efforts across all operations.
Great Gulf Village
This emerging residential, retail, and entertainment development at the base of the mountain reflects the facility's vision of becoming a true year-round destination — not just a ski resort, but a mountain community with diverse activities in every season.
Dining, Lodging, and Leisure
On-mountain restaurants at K-1 Lodge and Peak Lodge feature enhanced menus for the new season. The Subie Shack returns with popular beverages and snacks. Lodging enhancements include improved shuttle access and family-friendly amenities throughout the resort area.
